Indore: A very shocking case has come (helplessness) to light in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. A 17-year-old girl from Indore was sold to a man from Gujarat in the name of marriage. Six people, including a couple, were arrested on Friday on charges of selling their own minor daughter.
Deal made for Rs 1.80 lakh
A police officer gave this information on Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rishikesh Meena said that a woman from the city allegedly sold a 17-year-old girl to a man from Gujarat for Rs 1.80 lakh in the name of getting her married.
Rape of a minor after keeping her in a warehouse
He said, ‘The girl told us that the man kept her in a warehouse in Gujarat for two days and raped her. The girl somehow escaped from his clutches and returned to Indore.’ The DCP said that an FIR has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on the complaint lodged by the girl on Thursday.
A police team has been sent to Gujarat
DCP Meena said that the woman who allegedly sold the girl and her husband, along with the four people who took her to a person in Gujarat, have also been arrested. He said that a police team has been sent to Gujarat to search for the person.
SIT formed for further investigation
The DCP said that the police have also seized the car through which the girl was taken to Gujarat. He said, ‘A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to conduct a detailed investigation on the aspects of organized crime and human trafficking. We are interrogating the arrested accused.’
