Chandigarh: During the summer season, problems like headaches, body pain, weakness, dehydration, (Painkillers)and muscle cramps become common. To get quick relief, many people start taking painkillers repeatedly without consulting a doctor. Health experts warn that excessive use of painkillers can become dangerous for the body, especially in extreme heat conditions.
According to doctors, dehydration is common during summer. In such situations, frequent consumption of painkillers puts extra pressure on the kidneys. These medicines can reduce blood flow to the kidneys when the body lacks water, increasing the risk of kidney damage or acute kidney injury.
Experts also say that overuse of painkillers can negatively affect the stomach. It may lead to acidity, gas, ulcers, and even internal bleeding. Since the digestive system is already sensitive during hot weather, the harmful effects of these medicines can become more severe.
Painkillers may also damage the liver if consumed in large amounts or for a long period. The risk becomes even higher when these medicines are taken on an empty stomach or with alcohol.
Health specialists further warn that some painkillers can increase blood pressure and may raise the risk of heart attack or stroke in heart patients. During summer, when the body is already under stress due to heat and dehydration, these risks become more serious.
Doctors advise people not to ignore recurring pain, but also not to rely on painkillers without understanding the actual cause. Drinking enough water, eating a balanced diet, avoiding direct sunlight, and taking proper rest can help prevent many health problems. If the pain continues frequently, medical consultation is recommended.
