Nationalist (Nationalist )Congress filed a petition

Mumbai. Maharashtra unit president of the Nationalist (Nationalist ) Congress Party (NCP) Jayant Patil on Sunday said his party has sought disqualification against Ajit Pawar, who took oath as deputy chief minister, and eight other MLAs who took oath as ministers in the Eknath Shinde-led state government. Petition has been filed.

Addressing a press conference late on Sunday night, Patil said that the disqualification petition has been sent to Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar. He said that an e-mail has also been sent to the Election Commission of India, in which it has been told that NCP leaders and workers are with party chief Sharad Pawar.
The party, founded by Sharad Pawar in 1999, faced a split on Sunday afternoon when his nephew Ajit Pawar joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government as deputy chief minister. Apart from Ajit Pawar, 8 other MLAs of the party have also been made ministers in the government. These include Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse Patil, who are said to be loyal to Sharad Pawar.

Will form new leadership in NCP, those who left needed power: Sharad Pawar
Reacting to the incident, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar said on Sunday that he would form a new leadership in the NCP and that when such situations arise in the party, they get more energy to work. Pawar also said that he is the face of the party for the future as well.

Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and criticizing the MLAs who were part of the Shinde government, Pawar said he could not understand what had changed in the last four years (after the 2019 assembly polls). He said, ‘Four years ago, when we were contesting elections, our target was PM Modi and we were PM Modi’s target. Now, after opposing (him) for four years, what happened suddenly today? The real thing is that he wanted to go because he needed power.
