Madras High Court’s important comment on the spread of corruption in the country

Chennai. Madras High Court has made a big comment about corruption.( corruption) The court has held the nexus of IAS, PCS, politicians and bureaucrats responsible for corruption. Judicial service was also not spared. Commenting critically against corrupt practices, the Madras High Court said that at present in the country ‘corruption has become deep rooted and it is galloping unchecked and unabated’. The remarks were made in a petition filed by M Rajendran, a government servant against whom action has been initiated along with other persons for amassing disproportionate assets.

The Madras High Court said, ‘It is well known how our great nation is sinking deeper and deeper into corruption. There is no doubt that corruption is rampant in present day India at all levels and in all services, even the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Judicial Service have not been spared.’ Justice SM Subramaniam said that corruption is a disease which Destroys the cultural, political and economic fabric of the society and destroys the functioning of vital organs.

He said, ‘Corruption is found not only in illegal works, but demand and acceptance of bribe for legal transactions is also found on a large scale in government departments and police department. Therefore, the public opinion in this regard can be removed only by initiating appropriate action on the complaints given by the aggrieved persons. Therefore, higher officials are expected to be sensitive in the matter of allegations of corruption.

Comment on the petition filed by Rajendran
The court noted on the petition filed by Rajendran that though Rajendran made specific allegations of corruption against some police officers, it was not properly addressed by the Home Secretary, the DGP or the Superintendent of Police. The court said that the fear of corruption laws has disappeared from the minds of corrupt public servants. The nexus of politicians and bureaucrats gives hope to corrupt officials to escape the clutches of the law.
