New Delhi. BJP MP and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was hit hard on Saturday. He alleged that KCR betrayed Telangana and changed the name of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi on the advice of tantriks.
Nirmala Sitharaman said in the conversation, ‘Chief Minister KCR stopped going to the secretariat on the advice of tantriks and astrologers and did not include women in his cabinet for many years. Now the name of the party has been changed to BRS on the advice of tantriks.
Accusing KCR of betraying the people of Telangana, the Union Finance Minister said that after disappointing and betraying the people of Telangana and Telugu speaking people, he has now launched BRS as a national party. This new party is also bound to fail.
Nirmala Sitharaman said that TRS was formed to realize the spirit of Telangana, but KCR has failed in this. “At that time it was said that money, water and appointments (jobs) are the priorities for the ambition of Telangana state. It was also said that there would be social justice and women empowerment, but during the four years from 2014 to 2018, there was not a single woman minister in the TRS government. Even after TRS was re-elected, there was no woman minister for almost a year. Obviously, women were not given representation in the cabinet on the advice of some tantriks.
The Finance Minister said, “Telangana was a revenue surplus state when it was formed in 2014. Today Telangana has a debt of Rs 3 lakh crore, with a debt-to-GDP ratio of around 25 per cent.
On the other hand, referring to the controversial Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, the Union Finance Minister said that the project was supposed to be completed with a budget of Rs 40,000 crore, but now it has reached Rs 1.40 thousand crore and the reasons behind it. Proper explanation was also not given.
At the same time, even on the promise of jobs, Sitharaman did not keep its promise and cheated the people. “The TRS government has completely failed on all three fronts of money, water and jobs,” he said.
