New Delhi: Hemant (Hemant) Soren resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand late in the evening and a few hours later the Enforcement Directorate arrested him. Now Champai Soren will be the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Champai Soren is said to be close to Hemant Soren. Champai Soren is currently the Minister of Transport, Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Backward Classes Welfare of the Government of Jharkhand. He is also the vice president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
ED interrogated Hemant Soren in a money laundering case related to the alleged land scam. After this Hemant Soren reached Raj Bhavan to resign from the post of Chief Minister. Meanwhile, ruling party MLAs also reached Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. It is said that Champai Soren met the Governor and staked claim to form the government. Champai Soren has the support of more than 41 MLAs. The majority figure in the 80-member assembly is 41.
Late on Wednesday evening, Hemant Soren resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand and with this the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led alliance proposed the name of senior leader Champai Soren as the new Chief Minister. Earlier, Hemant Soren was interrogated for about seven hours by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case related to the land scam. After this, Hemant Soren went to Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
JMM leader and Minister of State Banna Gupta told reporters, “We have chosen Champai Soren as the legislature party leader. We had come to Raj Bhavan to request the Governor for the oath-taking ceremony.”
Jharkhand State Congress President Rajesh Thakur said, “Hemant Soren has resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The ruling JMM-Congress-RJD alliance has proposed the name of senior JMM leader Champai Soren as the new Chief Minister.
Earlier, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Maji told the press, “The CM is in ED custody. The CM has gone to the Governor with the ED team to submit his resignation… Champai Soren will be the new Chief Minister… We have There are sufficient numbers.”
Earlier, the MLAs gathered at the Chief Minister’s residence elected Champai Soren as the leader of the JMM Legislative Party. Party spokesperson Vinod Pandey said that a consensus was reached on the name of Champai Soren. Earlier there was speculation that Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana could be made the new Chief Minister.
Nishikant Dubey, MP from Godda parliamentary constituency of Jharkhand, has written in a post on X, “Champai Soren ji was proposed by the legislature party for the next Chief Minister. Hemant Soren ji could not make Kalpana Soren ji the Chief Minister due to opposition from the family.
