DM intervenes; outcome is lawful; ICICI Bank visits home and issues no dues; house documents

The Dehradun District Administration’s prompt action has not only increased public trust in the government and administration, but also provided justice to the helpless and distressed. Complainants who come before District Magistrate Savin Bansal are receiving justice, including education, employment, loan waivers, and property restitution. This has enhanced the government’s image as a just government and administration, and instilled faith in justice. A recent example is the District Administration’s loan waiver from ICICI Bank for Shobha, a widow with two children, one of whom is 100% disabled, and issued a NOC. This has brought light to the widow’s life, which was burdened by debt. She was worried about managing household expenses, her daughter’s education, her children’s upbringing, and repaying her bank loan. The District Administration’s efforts have now brought relief.

Despite having loan insurance for a loan of 17 lakh rupees, the bank was harassing her widow and her disabled children. Last week, widow Shobha, along with her family, met with District Magistrate Savin Bansal at the Collectorate to explain their situation. The District Magistrate directed Sub-District Magistrate Justice Kumkum Joshi to take action. Following the DM’s instructions, the SDM (Justice) has been following up on the case for the past 10 days, and the bank was given until Monday to provide a no-dues certificate. Otherwise, the bank branch’s property would be seized and auctioned. Shobha, the distressed widowed mother of a disabled child, was facing harassment for recovery of a 17 lakh rupee insurance loan while raising two children after her husband’s death in 2024. The DM’s intervention resulted in a proper outcome, with the bank visiting the home and returning the property documents to the harassed family along with a no-dues certificate. This type of action by the district administration has increased public confidence, with the district administration providing services ranging from education to employment, loan waivers, and property restitution. One tough decision after another has brought back smiles on the faces of the helpless and distressed.

Widow Shobha met the District Magistrate in the Collectorate office room and pleaded that her husband had died in 2024. Shobha Rawat, wife of the late Manoj Rawat, appeared before the District Magistrate and pleaded that she had taken a loan of ₹10,00,000 and ₹7,00,000, totaling ₹17,00,000, from the ICICI Bank branch. Shobha’s husband, Manoj Rawat, died on October 30, 2024. She has two children: a daughter who studies, and a son who is 100% disabled. After her husband’s death, the bank adjusted the insurance claim amount of ₹13,20,662 towards the loan amount, leaving approximately ₹5,00,000 to be deposited.

Shobha, a poor widow, is a homemaker with no other source of income. And he has a son who is 24 years old, 100% handicapped and unable to speak or walk and he also has the entire responsibility of a daughter who is studying. By getting her remaining loan of Rs 5 lakh waived off, his life has been improved and his future worries have been removed.
