Haridwar, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday gave an exemplary message by planting paddy at his ancestral farm in Nagara Tarai, Khatima. Descending into the field in a traditional rural style, the Chief Minister himself planted paddy saplings and also interacted with the farmers and listened to their problems and suggestions.
Farmers are the backbone of the country’s economy, CM Dhami
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said, farmers are not only the providers of food, but are also the custodians of our cultural heritage. Their hard work, sacrifice and dedication take us forward on the path of self-reliance.
Describing farmers as the economic backbone of the nation, he said that their respect and welfare should be given top priority.
During the programme, an attractive presentation of Uttarakhand’s traditional folk genre ‘Hudkiya Baul’ was also given. Through this soulful folk song, the deities of land, water and shadow were invoked.
The Chief Minister described this cultural initiative as a means of reviving the agricultural culture and folk traditions of the state.
CM Dhami personally interacted with the villagers and farmers present on the spot and learned about their problems and suggestions on points like crop production, irrigation, seeds, and market availability. He assured that the state government is taking concrete steps to increase the income of farmers, encourage organic farming and make agriculture a profitable business.
The Chief Minister’s coming to the field and planting paddy was not just a symbolic act, but it was a strong message towards self-reliant agriculture and rural engagement. His effort inspires the younger generation to join agriculture and adopt a lifestyle based on values.
