Nadia: There is a ruckus due to the incident of marriage in the class room of Psychology Department of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Haringhata in Nadia district of West Bengal. A student (student ) garlanded his own female professor and filled sindoor in her parting. The university has also taken action and sent the female professor on leave. A female professor is seen in the classroom dressed like a bride and the student who is filling sindoor in the professor’s parting is a first year student.
The biggest thing is that other students present in the class are shooting this marriage on their mobile. The professor looking like a bride and the student dressed as a groom are putting garlands of flowers around each other’s neck and then the student is seen filling the professor’s parting. There was a ruckus after the pictures and videos of such a marriage went viral. After this, the university administration has sent the professor on leave and the student is also missing.
The head of the Psychology department came to the college wearing a red Banarasi saree. She had a garland of Rajnigandha and rose flowers in her hands and the student had a shawl on his shoulder, one string of which was tied to the pallu of the professor’s saree, like a knot between husband and wife. While the woman is the head of the ‘Applied Psychology’ department at the Haringhata campus of Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, the groom is a first year student.
Investigation committee formed – Vice Chancellor
After the case came to light, the university’s acting Vice Chancellor Tapas Chakraborty said that an investigation has been started against the head of the department. He has been asked for an explanation about his behavior in the class. He verbally said that he had pretended to get married for a project in the class. Chakraborty said that the professor told Registrar Partha Pratim Lahiri that it was a social experiment. However, after going viral, the head of the psychology department, Payal Banerjee, has been sent on leave and an inquiry committee of five female professors has been formed, who will soon investigate the entire matter and submit a report.
