Belgharia: A shoot-out incident has come to light once again in West Bengal. Two-three miscreants shot a Trinamool leader in Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district at around 9 pm on Saturday night. Trinamool Congress labour cell leader Bikash Singh and his friend Santu were seriously injured in this attack. This sensational incident took place in North Vasudevpur in Belgharia. The TMC leader, who was seriously injured in the firing, was taken to Sagar Dutt Medical College Hospital in North 24 Parganas district. Such an incident on a busy road at 9 pm spread panic.

Vikas Singh was drinking tea sitting at a tea stall in North Vasudevpur in Ward No. 29 of Belgharia. Meanwhile, two to three miscreants came on a bike and shot at Vikas. Three rounds of firing were done one after the other.

TMC leader and friend’s condition critical
Vikas has been shot in the waist. The second bullet hit the hand of his friend Santu sitting next to him. In such a situation, the miscreants fled on the bike while firing a shot in the air. After the attack, the local people took Vikas and Santu to Sagar Dutta Hospital. Both are undergoing treatment in the hospital. However, this is not the first incident of a deadly attack on a leader in the state. Earlier also, attacks have been taking place on leaders in West Bengal. During the Lok Sabha elections also, many leaders of both the political parties TMC and BJP were attacked. Many workers of both the parties were also killed in similar attacks.

TMC worker murdered
On the night of 21 February, a Trinamool Congress worker was allegedly beaten to death in Birbhum district of West Bengal. Police said that on that night, some people stopped Sheikh Niamul, who was riding a motorcycle, near the Kankratala bus stand and then beat him with sticks and stones. The injured Niyamul was rushed to Siuri Sadar Hospital and then to a private hospital, but he died on the way. Niyamul’s brother and Trinamool worker Inamul Sheikh alleged that his brother was killed by a rival faction of the party “which had worked for the BJP in the last Lok Sabha elections”. The district Trinamool Congress, however, denied the claim and alleged that BJP members killed Niyamul to spread terror ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. Rejecting the allegations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that the murder reflects the law and order situation in the state. Police said the people behind the murder were yet to be identified. They said a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
