Rohit Vemula: You must remember the name of Rohit Vemula. The same Rohit Vemula, who had committed suicide in Hyderabad University 8 years ago and after that there were demonstrations at many places across the country. It was said that because of being a Dalit, Rohit Vemula was harassed, due to which he committed suicide. Now Telangana Police ( police) has filed a closure report in the court in that case. The police have said in their report that Rohit Vemula was not a Dalit at all. Despite this, he had wrongly got the SC certificate made and he always lived in fear of being caught.
Rohit Vemula was not from Scheduled Caste
According to the Hyderabad Police report presented in the court, Rohit Vemula did not belong to the Scheduled Caste and his certificate was fake. Police said in their report that he was afraid of being exposed, so he committed suicide.
The closure report of Telangana Police states, ‘The deceased himself knew that he did not belong to the Scheduled Caste and his mother had got an SC certificate made for him. Because of this he may have been in constant fear because he was afraid of being exposed. He felt that if this secret was revealed, he would lose the academic degrees he had earned over the years and he would be forced to face a police case.
Many issues were troubling the deceased
The police report said, ‘Along with this, many other issues were also troubling the deceased, which could have potentially forced him to commit suicide. However, despite all efforts, no evidence was found to prove that the accused named in the case had motivated Rohith Vemula to commit suicide.
After this closure of the police, the court acquitted the then VC of Hyderabad University Appa Rao, Secunderabad MP and Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, MLC N Ramachander Rao and the then Education Minister Smriti Irani. The family members of Rohit Vemula held these four responsible for this suicide and filed a case against them.
According to sources, Telangana Police had filed this closure report in the court on March 21, however, it has come to light now. Voting is to be held simultaneously on May 13 in the fourth phase on all 17 Lok Sabha seats of Telangana. At present there is Revanth Reddy government of Congress in Telangana. Before that TRS was ruling the state.
Interestingly, after the suicide of Rohith Vemula, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Hyderabad University campus and targeted the Modi government. After this, Owaisi and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also reached Hyderabad to raise this issue.

Rohith Vemula’s brother said that instead of trying to find out who forced his brother to commit suicide, the police focused all their energy on investigating his caste.
