New Delhi: About a month after the horrific train accident in Balasore district of Odisha, Archana Joshi,(Archana Joshi, ) General Manager of South Eastern Railway, has been removed from her post. Indian Railways said in a statement that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Anil Kumar Mishra to become the new General Manager of South Eastern Railway.
A horrific train accident took place on June 2 in Balasore, Odisha. Due to the accident, 291 people lost their lives and more than a thousand people were injured. It is known that the accident took place near Bahanga Bazar station. At around 7 in the evening, the Coromandel Express collided with a standing goods train, due to which most of its coaches were derailed. At the same time the Bangalore-Howrah Express was passing from there. Some coaches of the Coromandel Express overturned on the rear coaches of the Bengaluru Howrah Express.
Meanwhile, 52 bodies are yet to be identified at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhubaneswar after the triple train collision in Odisha’s Balasore district. Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Sulochana Das told that ‘AIIMS Bhubaneswar has 81 bodies, and due to multiple claims for the same body, we have sent their samples for DNA test. Out of them, confirmation of 29 samples has been received, and their relatives/claimants have been informed.
Quoting sources on Thursday, it was told that the Railway Safety Commission probing the Balasore train accident has submitted its report to the Railway Board. What has been said in the report, its information has not been revealed at the moment. Senior Railway Board officials declined to comment on the findings of the report.
