2 people (2 people)died due to firing

New Delhi. At least two people  (2 people) were killed and three others went missing when miscreants allegedly opened fire along the Arunachal Pradesh border in Assam’s Dhemaji district. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ranjan Bhuiyan said on Monday that one person had died on the spot. In fact, on the occasion of World Environment Day, a program of plantation was organized in the inter-state border area by the local people. To make arrangements here, 7 people had left ahead of time and they became victims of firing.
Superintendent of Police Ranjan Bhuiyan said three others received bullet injuries and were taken by locals to Dhemaji Civil Hospital, where one person died. The deceased person has been identified as Boga Chutiya of Assam. Three others went missing whom the police is looking for. He said that as soon as the information was received, our team reached the spot. We are probing the incident. However, the exact reason and motive behind the firing could not be ascertained.

Both the states are engaged in resolving the old border dispute
Local people in Assam are alleging involvement of miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh. Both the states have a long history of border disputes. Undeclared, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804 km long border and both sides are engaged in discussions to resolve the border disputes. In July last year, the chief ministers of the two states signed the Namsai Declaration, which aimed to resolve the decades-old border dispute. As a result, an MoU was signed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu in New Delhi on 20 April in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

What is the dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh?
Arunachal Pradesh, which was made a union territory in 1972, claims that many forest areas that traditionally belonged to hill tribal chiefs and communities were unilaterally transferred to Assam. Later when Arunachal was declared a state in the demarcation of 1987, a tripartite committee was appointed and it recommended that some areas which earlier belonged to the Union Territory may be transferred from Assam to Arunachal Pradesh, thus The proposal was strongly opposed by Assam and since then the matter has been in the Supreme Court.
