Aizawl. A 25-year-old man, who sustained 17 bullet ( bullets) injuries during ethnic clashes in Manipur, is being treated at a government hospital in neighboring Mizoram. An official gave this information on Monday. The victim has been identified as Poginmuan. He was taken to Aizawl Government Hospital from Churachandpur district of the neighboring state on Sunday for better medical facilities.
At least 17 bullets were fired at him from a country-made pistol during the violence in the village on May 3, the official said. Bullets hit him in the back and neck. Four of these bullets were removed in Churachandpur itself. He said that the doctors in Churachandpur said that they did not have the necessary equipment to remove the bullets lodged near the spinal cord and conducting nerves, after which Poginmuan was taken to Aizawl.
