Lucknow/New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has described the India-Japan relationship as a partnership built on mutual trust, cultural affinity and a shared vision for development.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Yogi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe played an important role in strengthening the close relationship between the two countries.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the cultural dimension of the partnership, referring to the historic connection between Kashi and Kyoto. He said the relationship between the two ancient cities reflects the broader cultural understanding and people-to-people ties between India and Japan.

Abe Memorial Corridor to be inaugurated in Kashi

Yogi said the Abe Memorial Corridor, dedicated to the memory of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the India-Japan friendship, would be inaugurated in Kashi on Wednesday.

The inauguration programme is being organised at the Rudraksha International Cooperation and Convention Centre, where the Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in the event.

The project is being presented as a symbol of the cultural and diplomatic ties that have developed between India and Japan over the years.

Japanese companies sign investment pacts worth ₹90,000 crore

Beyond cultural relations, Uttar Pradesh is also focusing on expanding economic cooperation with Japan. According to the Chief Minister, the state has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth around ₹90,000 crore with Japanese companies.

Yogi said the long-standing friendship between the two nations is increasingly translating into economic opportunities and investment partnerships.

The state government has been seeking greater Japanese participation in sectors linked to manufacturing, infrastructure, technology and industrial development.

Kashi-Kyoto bond strengthens bilateral ties

The Kashi-Kyoto connection has emerged as one of the important cultural dimensions of India-Japan relations. Both cities have deep historical and spiritual significance and have been associated with efforts to promote cultural exchange.

Yogi said the relationship has now expanded beyond cultural and spiritual connections, creating opportunities for economic cooperation and shared growth.

He described the journey “from Kashi to Kyoto and from faith to economy” as a reflection of the changing nature of India-Japan relations, with cultural understanding increasingly supporting wider development partnerships.
