New Delhi. After the victory in the Karnataka elections, the race for ‘Who will become the Chief Minister’ is going on. Siddaramaiah, who is considered to be the biggest contender for this post, is in fear in Delhi amidst the churning going on in the Congress high command regarding the new CM, ( CM) while on the other hand State Congress President and second contender for this post, DK Shivakumar postponed his visit to Delhi. He cited health problems behind this.
The Congress high command has not yet reached any decision regarding the new CM and now the churning is expected to continue on Tuesday as well. Meanwhile, news came from Congress insiders that most of the newly elected MLAs of Karnataka are in favor of Siddaramaiah and only he can be given the command of the state. However, regarding this, DK Shivakumar clearly said that he does not mind any such gossip.
‘Without the root there is no fruit’
“I don’t know anything… Media is spreading gossip. I was asked to go to Delhi, I could not go due to ill health. I am not part of the high command, we are party workers. The party will take the final decision.
The Karnataka Congress chief said that Lingayats, Vokkaliga seers and other Congress leaders have requested that they should be given a chance. He said, ‘Ahmed Patel would have been very happy to see that the Congress in Karnataka has reached this stage. They must have liked it. I have learned one thing that only a person with courage gets the majority. Loyalty will be rewarded for loyalty. I leave everything to the high command. Without the root you will not get the fruit.
Earlier in the day, DK Shivakumar made a strong pitch for the chief minister’s post, making it difficult for the party high command, which is already in a quandary to choose between him and Siddaramaiah.
Talking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar termed himself as a ‘lone individual’ and said that he believes that a single individual with courage becomes a majority. He said, ‘I am a single man, I believe in one thing that a single man with courage becomes a majority… When all our MLAs left the party (2019 JDS-Congress coalition government), I did not lose heart ‘
Shivakumar is also the richest MLA of Karnataka
According to the affidavit given by Karnataka’s richest MLA DK Shivakumar about his assets during the election, he has total assets of Rs 1,413 crore. These include many bank accounts, lands, plots, bonds, gold-diamond ornaments etc. Shivkumar also has many luxury vehicles. If we understand the total assets then it is in billions. His net worth has increased by 68 percent in the last 5 years. DK Shivakumar had told in 2018 that he had assets worth 840 crores and at that time it had increased almost twice as compared to 2013.
