Srinagar: At least three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) – The Resistance Front (TRF) terrorists were killed during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday. Police said incriminating arms and ammunition were also recovered from them.
Kashmir Zone Police tweeted from its official Twitter handle, “Shopian Encounter Update: Three Lashkar (TRF) terrorists killed. Identity is being ascertained. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition recovered. Search underway. Is.”
On Monday, the first encounter of the day took place in Poonch in which five jawans including a junior commissioned officer were martyred. After this, another encounter started in Poonch itself in the evening. The encounter took place a few kilometers away from the site of the first incident.
Regarding the encounter in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said on Monday that two operations were started on the basis of a credible input. 3-4 terrorists were surrounded in Tulran of Shopian. At the same time, another operation started in Kheripora of Shopian itself. A video of the encounter also surfaced, in which the army gave them a chance to surrender after besieging the terrorists. However, action was taken for not doing so.
