Entertainment: Saif Ali Khan has opened up about how his performance in Omkara changed the way the film industry viewed him as an actor. The actor said many people initially doubted whether he could pull off the role of Langda Tyagi, but the film eventually became a turning point in his career.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, Omkara was released in 2006 and was inspired by Shakespeare’s Othello. The film featured Ajay Devgn in the lead role, while Saif played the negative character Langda Tyagi, a performance that earned him widespread praise and several awards.
Speaking about the experience, Saif said that many people in the industry were unsure about his casting, but Vishal Bhardwaj supported and guided him throughout the process. He revealed that he spent a lot of time rehearsing dialogues and preparing for the rustic character, even while vacationing in the Maldives.
The actor shared that the success of Omkara helped filmmakers recognize a different side of his acting abilities. According to Saif, the film opened doors to more grounded and performance-oriented roles that were very different from his real-life personality.
