PV Sindhu: Star Indian badminton player PV Sindhu has suffered defeat in the pre-quarterfinals of Paris Olympics 2024. She had to face defeat from China’s He Bing Jiao 21-19 and 21-14. Due to this, her journey in Paris Olympics has ended. With this, she has also missed making a big record. Sindhu could not stand in front of the Chinese player and had to face defeat. This is the first time that Sindhu (PV Sindhu’) will return from the Olympics without a medal. Earlier she had played two Olympics and won medals in both.
Sindhu missed this record
PV Sindhu has won two medals in the Olympics. She won silver in Rio Olympics 2016 and bronze in Tokyo Olympics 2020. In Tokyo, she won the bronze medal by defeating China’s He Bing Jiao. But Bing Jiao has settled the old score by defeating her. If Sindhu had won a medal in Paris Olympics, she would have become the first Indian player to win three consecutive medals in the history of Olympics. But this could not happen. Jiao has shattered her dream.
Sindu made mistakes in the first game
PV Sindhu’s match against He Bing Jiao lasted 56 minutes. Sindhu did not have a good start in the match. She made some simple mistakes while Jiao hit some accurate smashes, which helped the Chinese player take a 5-1 lead. Sindhu was having trouble moving on the court and she hit some shots out and gave the Chinese player a chance to take a 7-2 lead. The Indian player then tried to make a comeback by scoring some good points, but Jiao was ahead 11-8 till the break. Sindhu put pressure on the Chinese player.
She also got the benefit of luck when three very close points went in her favour due to which Sindhu was able to equalize at 12-12. Bing Jiao took a 19-17 lead with a smash on Sindhu’s body. The Indian player made the score 19-19 with two consecutive points. The Chinese player got a game point by hitting a shot on the line and then after a long rally, won the first game 21-19 in 30 minutes with a cross court smash.
Lost the match along with losing the game
In the second game too, Bing Jiao troubled Sindhu with her smashes and was able to take an 8-2 lead with six consecutive points. Sindhu made the score 5-8 with three consecutive points but Jiao took a strong lead of 13-5 with five consecutive points. Sindhu hit some shots out in between due to which the Chinese player made the score 16-8. Bing Jiao took a 19-11 lead after Sindhu hit the shot out. The Indian player scored two consecutive points but then Bing Jiao scored seven match points by hitting a shot in the last part of the court. Sindhu saved one match point but then hit the shot out and put the game and the match in Bing Jiao’s bag.
