Indian Women’s Team Dominates Pakistan (  Indian) 

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup: The Indian   (  Indian)  team made a spectacular start to the tournament by winning their opening Group A match against Pakistan by 64 runs. Batting first, Team India posted a total of 170 runs, after which the Pakistani team was bowled out for 106. Deepti Sharma played a pivotal role in the victory, delivering a brilliant bowling performance to claim five wickets.

Chasing a target of 171 runs, the Pakistani team got off to a brisk start as the opening pair of Mubeena Ali and Gul Feroz shared a 38-run stand for the first wicket. Deepti Sharma, who came on to bowl in the fifth over, dealt the first blow by dismissing Gul Feroz for 12 runs. Subsequently, Pakistan suffered a collapse, losing wickets at regular intervals; half the team was back in the pavilion by the time the score reached 77. The Indian bowlers denied them any chance of a comeback, eventually wrapping up the Pakistani innings for 106 runs in 17 overs. While Deepti Sharma claimed five wickets, Sri Charani took three and Shafali Verma took one.

Mandhana Shines with the Bat
In this opening T20 World Cup 2026 match against Pakistan, Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat first, though the team lost its first two wickets with the score at just 18. From this point, Smriti Mandhana joined forces with captain Harmanpreet Kaur to not only forge a 91-run partnership for the third wicket but also steer Team India into a strong position. Mandhana played a knock of 68 runs off 44 balls, while Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 36 runs. Meanwhile, Richa Ghosh, who came in to bat during the final overs, played an aggressive innings of 34 runs off just 17 balls, playing a pivotal role in taking Team India to a total of 170 runs. The Indian team will now play its next match of this T20 World Cup against the Netherlands women’s team on June 17 at Headingley.
