Policemen beat up the judge

Patna: In Bihar, two policemen beat up the judge in the court itself. Not only this, the accused also pointed a pistol at the judge and abused him in filthy manner. Both the policemen have been sent to jail. This incident is from Jhanjharpur Court of Practice in Madhubani district. In fact, Police Station Officer Gopal Prasad and Inspector Abhimanyu Kumar, posted at Ghoghardiha police station, appeared before Judge Avinash Kumar on Thursday for the ongoing hearing on a complaint. During this he assaulted the judge.
There was an argument during the hearing of a case and both the policemen suddenly attacked the judge. As of now, the reason for the incident has not been revealed yet. Hearing the noise, the lawyers ran towards the judge’s chamber and saved the judge from the clutches of the accused. Later, the lawyers took both the policemen hostage in the court premises. Several lawyers are also reported to have been injured in this incident.

Judge Avinash Kumar has been in the news for his judgment and comments. In September this year, he granted bail to the accused of molestation on the condition of washing and pressing the clothes of all the women of his village. This service is to be provided free of cost to the accused for 6 consecutive months. The judge had entrusted the responsibility of monitoring it to the Panch-Sarpanch of the village. On completion of 6 months, the convict was also ordered to take a certificate of free service and submit it to the court.

It is believed that the police camp is angry with the judge’s remarks on his chief. Recently, during the hearing of a case, Judge Avinash Kumar had talked about sending Madhubani SP Dr Satyaprakash for training due to lack of knowledge of the law. In fact, the court of Judge Kumar had issued a letter to the Central and State Government on 14 July 2021 for not applying the POCSO and Child Marriage Act 2006 in an FIR registered at Bhairav Sthan police station. In this, questions were raised about the role of Madhubani SP, Jhanjharpur DSP and Bhairav Sthan police station, besides an officer of the behavioral court. He was told that he was not aware of the law.
