Doha: Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra (Neeraj Chopra) finished second with a best effort of 88.36 meters in the javelin throw event at the Doha Diamond League Meet on Friday. 26-year-old Neeraj Chopra gave his best performance in his last attempt, but his effort fell two centimeters short of Yakub Wallesh’s winning effort. He remained behind the experienced Wallach of Czech Republic throughout the competition. Yakub Wallesh won the title in the third attempt with a throw of 88.38 meters.

Neeraj Chopra tried his best in his last attempt, but he failed to defend his title by two centimeters. Two-time world champion Anderson Peters finished third with a best throw of 86.62 metres. The other Indian participating in this competition, 28-year-old teenager Jena, had a disappointing debut in the Diamond League. He was out after three rounds of throws. During this period his best effort was 76.31 metres. He finished ninth after three throws each by 10 competitors.
Yakub Wallesh did wonders
Kishore Jena’s personal best is 87.54 metres. This performance had won him a silver medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, but Friday was not his day. Wallace had won a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics and a bronze medal in the 2023 World Championships, in these two events Chopra had won the gold medal. The next Diamond League meet, including men’s javelin throw, will be held in Paris on July 7.
