Chandigarh: In support of the nationwide strike called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists, most medical stores in Chandigarh will remain closed on May 20. However, the administration has made special arrangements to ensure patients do not face difficulties in getting essential medicines.
Several pharmacies and medical stores inside Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) and Government Medical College and Hospital will remain operational. In addition, 52 selected medical stores across the city and all Prime Minister Jan Aushadhi Kendras will continue to provide medicines.
According to the administration, special arrangements have been made to ensure the availability of emergency and life-saving medicines in hospitals and key sectors of the city.
Medicines will also remain available at private hospitals, civil hospitals, and Jan Aushadhi centers. The health department has appealed to citizens not to panic, assuring that essential medicines will be available at designated locations.
