Mayawati’s ‘BDM’ equation will spoil the maths of SP

Lucknow: Mayawati, who has remained silent till now in the assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh, appeared on her birthday on January 15 and attacked Swamy fiercely. Not only this, with his statement, he made it clear that what is his strategy in the midst of mobilization in the name of castes. Referring to Swami Prasad Maurya, Mayawati said that you all must have seen how he is spewing poison. The BSP chief also gave the definition of Ambedkarite during this time. He said, ‘When we talk of Ambedkarism, we should understand that he was not against any caste but against the caste system. He used to talk about eradicating this evil and building an egalitarian society. So those from the upper castes who are against it will have to take them along. When there is harmony in the society, only then will an egalitarian society be formed.

It was clear from Mayawati’s statement that she is preparing to go with her slogan of Sarvajan Hitay and Sarvajan Sukhay instead of SP’s 85 vs 15 fight. Giving the message of harmony to the upper fraternity, Mayawati directly indicated to cultivate the upper castes. Not only this, during this time he also released his first list. In this, maximum tickets have been given to Muslims and Brahmins. It is believed that she is moving ahead on the ‘BDM’ alliance i.e. Brahmins, Dalits and Muslims. If they get votes on this equation, then SP may get a big setback. The reason for this is that only 85 per cent of the SP is involved in Mayawati’s ‘BDM’ equation.

In view of the way Swami Prasad Maurya has played the card of forward and backward, SP may also have to bear the loss. It is believed that with this, a section of the upper castes who could vote for the SP, may be dispersed. On the other hand, Mayawati’s ticket distribution and new definition of Ambedkarism can entice her. Not only this, in places where SP has not given Muslim candidates, BSP candidates are likely to get benefits. This can happen especially in western UP. Even Imran Masood and Masood Akhtar in Saharanpur are preparing for an elephant ride. If both these leaders go to BSP, then SP may have to directly suffer the loss of Muslim votes in West UP.

Let us inform that in the first list released by Bahujan Samaj Party, full place has been given from Muslims to Brahmins. In the list released by the party, about 17 percent Brahmins have been given tickets. Earlier in 2007, when the BSP came to power, the party had given tickets to about 25 per cent Brahmin candidates. She seems to be believing in this formula once again. This time there are also reports of displeasure of Brahmin voters with BJP. In such a situation, BSP chief Mayawati is seen trying to woo the angry voters. He has given ticket to 9 Brahmin candidates in the first list.
