Will Iran resume nuclear talks with America?

Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country is ready to hold nuclear talks with the United States   (US)  provided there are assurances that it will not be attacked further, state media reported. In a speech to foreign diplomats in Tehran, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has always been ready to negotiate about its nuclear program and will remain so in the future, but “assurances must be given that this tendency will not lead to war in case the talks resume.”

US should give guarantees that it will not attack again

Referring to the 12-day Israeli bombing of Iran’s nuclear and military sites and the US attack on June 22, Araghchi said that if the US and other countries want to resume talks with Iran, “first of all, there must be firm guarantees that such actions will not happen again.”

Attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities complicate solution

Attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities have made finding a negotiated solution more difficult and complicated. After the attacks, Iran halted cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog, forcing the inspectors to return. Araghchi said that under Iranian law, the country would respond “on a case by case” to the agency’s requests for cooperation based on Iran’s interests.

He also said any inspections by the agency should be done with Iran’s “security” concerns in mind as well as the safety of inspectors. He said, “There is a serious risk of spread of radioactive elements and explosion of war leftover ammunition in nuclear sites that are attacked.”

My life is in danger from Iran: Nargis Mohammadi

Iran’s security agencies have said that Nobel Peace Prize winner Nargis Mohammadi’s life is in danger. This threat has arisen after Iran’s war with Israel. Norway’s Nobel Committee and activists said this on Friday. According to Norway’s Nobel Committee, Mohammadi said that she has received death threats through her lawyer and other indirect means because she (Mohammadi) has continued to make public statements on the Islamic Republic’s theocracy, women’s rights and other issues. The Nobel Committee said, “In his (Mohammadi’s) own words, the clear message is that he has been threatened with ‘physical elimination’ directly and indirectly by agents of the regime.”
