Khandwa: News of a major accident ( accident ) has emerged from Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh. At least 11 people have died in an accident during the Durga idol immersion on the occasion of Dussehra. According to reports, a trolley full of people fell into a pond, killing 11 people. According to reports, 20-22 people were on board. Rescue operations are underway at the scene with the help of a JCB. Most of the deceased are reported to be children.
How did the accident happen?
The incident occurred in Ardala Kalan village, under the Pandhana police station area of Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh. During the immersion of Durga idols, a major accident occurred when a tractor trolley fell into a pond. Approximately 20 to 25 people on board the trolley drowned. Upon receiving the information, the entire village was shaken, and the Pandhana police and villagers immediately rushed to the pond. The driver of the tractor trolley, which had gone to immerse the Durga idol in the pond, had parked it on a culvert. The tractor trolley overturned, causing the accident.
Rescue Operations Underway
The death toll in this accident is feared to rise. Most of the victims are children. Rescue operations are currently underway at the scene. Upon receiving information about the incident, BJP MLA from Pandhana, Chhaya More, also left for the scene. Expressing grief over the tragedy, she said, “I immediately called the Collector, Superintendent of Police, and hospital staff. We are trying to rescue everyone as soon as possible.”
CM Mohan Yadav Announces Compensation
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the accident and announced compensation. Mohan Yadav wrote on X – “The accidents that occurred during Durga immersion in Khandwa’s village Jamli and in the Ingoria police station area near Ujjain are extremely sad. I express my condolences to the bereaved families. Instructions have been given to provide assistance of ₹4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and proper treatment to the injured in the nearest hospital. I pray to Goddess Durga for the speedy recovery of all the injured and for strength to the bereaved families.”
