Washington: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s biggest opponent Alexei Navalny has died in an Arctic prison. Russian news agency ‘Tas’ has claimed this. Navalny  (Navalny ) was imprisoned in Polar Wolf, Russia’s most dangerous prison. Navalny’s death occurred just a month before the presidential elections in Russia. Elections will be held there from 15 to 17 March. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for Navalny’s death.
Joe Biden said at the White House, “Navalny stood up bravely against corruption, violence, and all the bad things being done by Putin’s government. Putin is responsible for his death.” The White House has sought more information about Navalny’s death in the Arctic prison.

After Navalny’s death, there are chances of increasing tension between America and Russia. The reason for this is America’s stance against Russia regarding Navalny. 19 years imprisonment was given in 2021
Alexei Navalny was sentenced to 19 years in prison in 2021. Two months ago, in December, it was revealed that he was imprisoned in Polar Wolf Jail. Before this he was missing for 2 weeks. The mercury goes up to -28 degrees in the Arctic prison where he was kept. His lawyer had said that he was sent to Arctic jail to keep him away from the elections. He was criticizing Russia’s attack on Ukraine from the beginning. He was also getting a lot of support from the public.

There was an attempt to poison a flight in 2020
There was a fatal attack on Navalny in 2017. His eye was seriously injured in the attack. In 2018, he tried to stand in the presidential election, but could not do so due to allegations of fraud. Alexey had called it a conspiracy by the government. Navalny was jailed for one month after announcing a major protest in July 2019.
