Ganga Vilas Cruises embarks on world’s longest river cruise

New Delhi. Is ‘Ganga Vilas Cruise’ that left Varanasi for Dibrugarh in river Ganges stuck in Bihar? Giving the latest update on all such speculations, the officials said that there is no truth in such news. This cruise is proceeding as per its schedule and do not pay attention to the news of its getting stuck in Bihar. This cruise is on the longest river cruise journey in the world. Officials said that the cruise reached Chhapra in Bihar in the afternoon of January 16 and the tourists aboard spent some time here. Meanwhile, news came that the cruise was trapped. After this SDRF teams were called. The Pipa bridge was opened, from where the cruise proceeded.

Inland Waterways Authority of India – Ministry of Shipping and Waterways has also denied the news of the cruise being stuck. Its chairman Sanjay Bandopadhyay said, ‘Ganga Vilas Cruise has reached Patna as per its schedule. There is absolutely no truth in the news of his getting stuck in Chhapra. He expressed confidence that it will continue its onward journey as per its scheduled time.
SDRF boats as a regular precautionary measure
Here, Chhapra’s CO Satendra Singh said that local journalists had earlier misrepresented him regarding this incident. He told the news agency ANI that ‘local journalists had told me wrong. SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) boats were at the spot as a precautionary measure on receiving the information. There is no hindrance anywhere regarding the cruise. The SDRF boats were provided ‘by the district authorities’ as a routine precautionary measure.

Can’t go to the shallow banks of the cruise river
Group chairman Raj Singh told ANI that Cruise is not trapped. Actually technically it cannot go on the shallow bank of the river. Hence ‘(where) the river is not deep, travelers have to use shallow boats to land and see the site.
