Mumbai. Politics has intensified regarding the ongoing border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka. This matter is pending in the Supreme Court for 18 years. On the border dispute with Karnataka, the Maharashtra government moved a resolution in the assembly on Tuesday, which was passed unanimously. It was said in the resolution that keeping in view all the necessary legal aspects, the government will take steps to include Belagavi, Karwar, Nipani cities of Karnataka along with every inch of land of 865 villages in Maharashtra. On the other hand, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has increased the political stir by expressing objection to the proposal of the Maharashtra government.
Significantly, the border dispute between the two states is more than five decades old. Recently Union Home Minister Amit Shah had met the Chief Ministers of both the states regarding this and appealed to maintain peace. When the Maharashtra government passed a proposal to merge 865 villages, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai questioned the proposal and said that the matter is under consideration in the Supreme Court. In such a situation, these proposals have no meaning. Bommai said that we will not give an inch of our land. We will protect our people and condemn the decision of Maharashtra government.
