Undefeated so far in the Under-19 World Cup( World Cup) 

Under-19 World Cup: Australia’s brilliant performance continues in the ICC U19 World Cup    ( World Cup)  2026. Australia registered their 5th consecutive win in the tournament by defeating West Indies by 22 runs in the Super Six match played in Harare. With this, Australia has become the first team to reach the semi-finals of the U19 World Cup 2026. Australia has had a fantastic journey in the tournament so far. Every team that has faced Australia has had to face defeat. Australia is considered a strong contender for the title this time as well. Notably, Australia is the defending champion of the U19 World Cup.

Captain Oliver Peake played a century innings
The hero of Australia’s brilliant victory against West Indies was Australian captain Oliver Peake, who played a superb century innings of 109 runs off 117 balls under pressure. In addition, the lethal bowling of fast bowler Charles Lachmund also played a crucial role in Australia’s victory.

Batting first, Australia once again had a strong start. Openers Will Malajuk and Nitish Samuel gave the team a quick start. The duo put on a 50-run partnership in just seven overs. Malajuk scored an aggressive 48 runs off 30 balls, but his wicket fell in the 9th over at a total score of 73. After this, Steven Hogan returned to the pavilion cheaply. Then Nitish Samuel and captain Oliver Peake took charge of the innings and put on an important 85-run partnership for the third wicket. Samuel batted cautiously, scoring 56 runs off 74 balls. Meanwhile, Peake held one end and completed his half-century in the next over. He continued the innings with wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Lee Young (45 runs). In the death overs, Peak and Jayden Draper (29 runs) scored runs at a rapid pace. The pair added 76 runs in the last 9 overs. Captain Peak completed his century with a magnificent six in the final over, although he was run out on the last ball. Australia posted a strong total of 314 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs.

West Indies Batsmen Fail
Chasing the target, West Indies also got off to a strong start. A strong opening partnership of 88 runs was forged between Zakary Carter and Tanaje Francis. Carter smashed 64 runs off just 42 balls. Francis also made a valuable contribution. Following this, Carter and Jewel Andrew (44 runs) took the team past the 100-run mark. Captain Joshua Dorne tried to anchor the innings with 62 runs off 97 balls, but the run rate slowed down.

In the last 10 overs, West Indies needed 83 runs to win with 7 wickets in hand, but the match turned around at this point. Charles Lachmund took wickets consistently, shifting the momentum in Australia’s favor. The West Indies team crumbled under pressure in the final overs and could only manage 292 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Charles Lachmund took 4 wickets for 66 runs in 9 overs, while Aryan Sharma and Hayden Schiller claimed two wickets each. With this victory, Australia became the first team to reach the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026 and remains undefeated in the tournament so far.
