5 security personnel injured .(injured ) in clash

Meghalaya. Hundreds of angry people gheraoed the office of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday. During this, there was a clash between the protesters and the security personnel, in which at least five security personnel were injured.(injured )  CM Sangma was present inside the campus at the time of the incident. However, he is completely safe and is staying indoors due to security concerns.

Actually Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was holding an important meeting with various protesting civic bodies including ACHIK, GHSMC. The discussion between them went on for more than three hours in the CM’s office. Meanwhile, a huge crowd gathered outside the campus and started raising slogans. The furious mob also pelted stones during this period and also broke the windows of the CM office.

At the same time, in retaliation, the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd gathered there. At least five security personnel have been injured in this clash so far. While the Chief Minister’s Office said in a comment, the situation has been brought under control, but the situation remains ‘very tense’.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma was in discussion with the Garo-Hills based agitating organizations who are on hunger strike for the winter capital in Tura, said the Public Relations Officer of the CM Office. Meanwhile, a crowd (apart from agitating groups) gathered at the CMO in Tura and started pelting stones. Police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. 5 policemen were injured. CM and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister are monitoring the matter in CMO Tura.

Civic bodies distance themselves from protesters
Meanwhile, the members of the civic bodies, who were meeting with the Chief Minister, have distanced themselves from the attack. He said that the people involved in the mob are not his and he has nothing to do with this attack.

At the same time, police officials said that the protesters were demanding to make Tura the winter capital, when a large number of outsiders joined them and started pelting stones at the office. Officials told that the video footage of the incident will be seen and the culprits will be identified.
