Chennai: Police has arrested a 12-year-old boy in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. This 12-year-old boy is accused of impregnating a 17-year-old girl. It is being told that both the minor boy and the minor girl were having an affair. According to the police, they received information that a minor girl had given birth to a baby girl a few days ago at the Raja Mirasudar Government Hospital.
When the police investigated the matter, it came to know that the girl was in a relationship with a 12-year-old boy for some years. Because of this the girl became pregnant and then she gave birth to a baby girl. The police have arrested the accused boy in this case as per the POSCO Act. The police has sent the accused boy to the Thanjavur Children’s Correctional Home. This incident is discussed in the whole area.
What is POSCO Act?
According to the POSCO Act, any kind of sexual behavior with children below the age of 18 years comes under the purview of the POSCO Act. The POSCO Act provides equal protection to both boys and girls from acts of physical abuse. Cases registered under the POSCO Act are heard in a special court. The trial of the case registered under the POSCO Act takes place in front of the camera in the presence of the child’s parents or those whom he trusts.
The POSCO Act provides for different punishment for different offences. Apart from all this, there is one more thing in the POSCO Act and that there is a provision in the law that the trial should be completed within one year of the incident of sexual abuse. Apart from this, if physical relations have been made with a minor even with his will, then he is also kept in the category of rape.
