BALCO showcased world class aluminium production to the families of employees

Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a Vedanta Group company, organized a four-day family drive for its employees. The objective of this initiative was to provide the employees’ families with a first-hand experience of the entire process of aluminium production, so that they can develop a sense of attachment and pride towards the organisation. Under this initiative, the family members were given a comprehensive tour of the plant.
The visit began with a security briefing at the Centralized Security Operations Centre (CSOC) where they were apprised of the state-of-the-art security procedures adopted by BALCO. They then witnessed the transformation of alumina powder into molten metal (aluminum) at the potline. They were also briefed on the production of carbon anode which is a vital part of the aluminium production process. They were also taken on a tour of the 1200 MW power plant which powers the entire plant. The visit culminated at the Cast House where molten aluminium is converted into various finished products such as ingots, rolled products, wire rods and primary foundry alloys which play a vital role in various key industries. It was great to see the functioning of the plant and the strict safety measures. This experience will be memorable for us.
