Lahore: More than 100 policemen  (policemen )    of Pakistan’s Punjab Police have been dismissed from service for refusing to perform the security duty assigned to them during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Police gave this information on Tuesday. The dismissed personnel were associated with various branches of the police force. According to a Punjab Police official, more than 100 police officers and employees have been removed from their posts after being found absent from duty on several occasions during the Champions Trophy while many others refused to perform their assigned tasks.

He said, “The police officers were appointed to provide security for the teams traveling between the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to the designated hotels. But they either remained absent or flatly refused to take up their responsibilities. ” The official said that IGP Punjab Usman Anwar has taken cognizance of the matter and ordered strict action against the concerned policemen. He said, “There is no scope for negligence when it comes to the security of international tournaments. ” Although there is no official statement about why the dismissed policemen refused to perform their official duty, many local media reports suggest that the dismissed policemen were feeling overburdened due to long hours of duty.
