Before the rain, due to sudden change in weather at around 8.30 pm, dust storm was seen from Noida Sector 10, while in some areas of Delhi, there was rain along with strong storm. Two died in Delhi

At the same time, it was reported that the wall of a school collapsed due to strong storm in Welcome area of ​​North East Delhi. Power outage also occurred in Delhi and Noida
Power outage is also being reported in many areas of Delhi and Noida. Delhi’s power companies Tata Power and BSES gave information about the power outage. Tata Power-DDL said, “Due to dust storm followed by thunderstorm, hail and rain in Delhi, power supply has been disrupted in many areas of the capital such as Bawana, Narela, Jahangirpuri, Civil Lines, Shakti Nagar, Model Town, Wazirabad, Dheerpur, Burari. Power lines were damaged by falling trees and branches. To ensure the safety of people, power supply had to be temporarily suspended in some areas as a precaution to avoid electric shock. Tata Power-DDL teams are engaged in speedy restoration and repair of damaged power infrastructure.

BSES also issued a statement – Thunderstorm and hailstorm accompanied by strong winds and rain caused power disruption in many parts of the city due to falling of trees and their branches on power lines, BSES operations and maintenance teams are on high alert, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been deployed immediately to attend to complaints. In most of the cases, power supply is being restored swiftly. However, in some areas, power supply has been disrupted due to fallen trees and their branches Due to the damage caused to the infrastructure, restoration is taking longer than usual.”

Flights were affected

Air India said in a post on ‘X’ that flights to and from Delhi may be disrupted this evening due to rain and thunderstorm. SpiceJet said on ‘X’, “Due to bad weather (thunderstorm with heavy rain) in Delhi, all departures / arrivals and their related flights may be affected. Apart from this, traffic movement at the airport may also be affected due to heavy rain.” Dial said on ‘X’, “Due to bad weather and thunderstorm in Delhi, flight operations at Delhi Airport may be affected.”

Delhi Metro services also disrupted
DMRC has released a service update. Due to the sudden storm, there has been some damage to OHE or foreign objects falling on the metro tracks at some places. As a result, metro services have been affected on these affected sections on Red, Yellow and Pink lines near Shaheed Nagar, Jahangirpuri and Nizamuddin stations respectively and they are being repaired.
