There will be further increase in cold from December 15

New Delhi: The effect of snowfall on the mountains is visible in the plains of North India. Cold has started increasing in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand. The mercury has also dropped in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, after December 15, the cold will increase further. Actually, due to the continuous westerly winds, the humidity in the air has started increasing. This is the reason why melting has also started increasing. The wind coming from the hilly states is increasing the chill even during the day. Here in some southern districts of Andhra Pradesh, 1 person died and more than 1,000 people have been kept in relief camps in rain and storm related incidents due to Cyclone Mandus.

According to state government reports, SPSR Nellore and Tirupati districts have been asked to be alert due to sudden rise in water level in small rivers Kandleru, Maneru and Swarnamukhi. A list of sensitive mandals and villages has been sent to the administration for taking necessary precautionary measures. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain at some places in the state even today. Agricultural crops spread over 4,647.4 hectares and 532.68 hectares of horticulture have been destroyed due to the rains, while 170 houses have been damaged. SDRF and NDRF teams have been deployed in 4 districts to deal with any emergency.

The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rains with isolated heavy rains over South Karnataka and North Interior Tamil Nadu during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rains are also likely over Karnataka, Kerala and rest of Lakshadweep. Light rain with moderate rain at one or two places may occur over Telangana. Light rain is expected in South Odisha, Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra. There may be light rain and snowfall in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. After snowfall for the second consecutive day in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, the minimum temperature recorded a rise and at most places it has gone above the freezing point. Snowfall is forecast to continue even today.

IMD said that the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 8.8 degree Celsius on Sunday. The relative humidity ranged from 97 per cent to 41 per cent. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the sky will be clear this morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 28 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively. In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the minimum temperature can be 12 degrees and the maximum temperature can be 27 degrees. It has been estimated to remain foggy in the morning. The minimum temperature in Ghaziabad can be recorded at 11 degrees and the maximum temperature can be recorded at 25 degrees. In Ghaziabad too, fog in the morning and sky will be clear during the day.
