New Delhi. The title of the largest office building in the world was named after the Pentagon, ( Pentagon) the headquarters of the US Department of Defense. But this achievement has been taken by a building located in Surat, Gujarat, which will have a diamond trading center. It took four years to complete the construction of the building. The building will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November this year. Surat is known as the gem capital of the world where 90 percent of the world’s diamonds are cut.
It is being told that more than 65,000 diamond professionals will be able to work in this building which will include polishers, cutters and traders etc. It has been made as a one stop destination. This building has been named Surat Diamond Bourse. The 15-storey building is spread over 35 acres of land and consists of nine rectangular buildings all connected by a central spine. According to the company that built the sprawling complex, it comprises over 7.1 million square feet of floor space.
Thousands of people will get business facility
This office complex has an entertainment area and parking area which is spread over 20 lakh square feet. Actually, SDB is a non-profit organization promoted by Diamond Bourse, a company registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. Created for the establishment and promotion of the Diamond Bourse in Surat, Gujarat. Project CEO Mahesh Gadhvi said that the new building complex will provide excellent opportunities for doing business to thousands of people.
Diamond companies had bought their respective offices even before they were formed.
The building has been designed by Indian architecture firm Morphogenesis following an international design competition. Mr. Gadhvi said, “It was not a part of the competition to beat the Pentagon. Rather, the size of the project was determined by demand. He said that all the offices were bought by diamond companies before construction.
