Srinagar: The network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) working for terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir has become a major challenge for the security forces. Hundreds of these helpers of terrorists have been caught after the terrorists targeted the minorities in Kashmir. But their network is spread in about 60 percent parts of Kashmir. The number of such grassroot workers is more than seven thousand.
OGWs not only act as informers for terrorists, but also work for transporting their messages from one place to another and for logistical support. Giving information about the latest activities of the OGW in the report of the intelligence agency, it has been told that they provide information of security forces to terrorists, move money from here and there and also make arrangements for safe havens.
Intelligence agencies report said that OGW network is very strong in South Kashmir but it is in almost all areas of Kashmir. Sometimes they are ready to help because of the fear of terrorists. But in the latest cases, many youths have joined this network due to radicalization. They work by living among the common people, so they are not easily suspected.
A large number of OGWs were arrested even after the abrogation of Article 370. But many people were released after the affidavit. In the last few days, in view of the new strategy of terrorists, security agencies have become active again on the inputs of intelligence agencies. Apart from security agencies, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, NIA is trying to destroy this network on a large scale. But it is believed that this is not a very easy task.
