New Delhi: Twelve people have died and several others are missing due to heavy rains and floods due to the formation of a low pressure area in YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. Three APSRTC buses got stuck in flood waters in Nandaluru, Mandavalli and Akapadu villages of Rajampet division of the district, police said. Due to the rupture of Cheyuru reservoir, the flood water filled the roads, in which these buses were drowned. Heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and Kerala have made life difficult for people. Some passengers in a bus were found drowning in the flood waters. Seven bodies were fished out in Gudaluru village, three bodies in Rayavaram village and two bodies in Madanapalle village. Officials were trying to ascertain whether they were the bodies of the passengers of the bus or those of nearby villagers. Firefighters rescued the passengers of the other two buses. Police said the death toll was expected to rise as some others were still missing.

YSR Cuddapah district is worst affected by heavy rains and floods. According to official sources, considering the importance of the matter, the central team is likely to visit the state immediately.
