New Delhi. The Defense Ministry on Tuesday approved three procurement proposals, including Helina anti-tank guided missiles, at a total cost of Rs 4,276 crore to strengthen combat capabilities of the armed forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. The procurement proposals were approved by the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Two of these proposals were for the Army and the third was for the Indian Navy. The Defense Ministry has said that the DAC has approved the Acceptance of Requirement (AoN) for three procurement proposals at a cost of Rs 4,276 crore.
The ministry said, “DAC has approved AON for procurement of HELINA anti-tank guided missiles, launchers and associated accessories, which will be fitted on the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH).” is an essential part of the process of arming the ALH. The ministry said in a statement, “Its induction will strengthen the combat capability of the Indian Army.”
Weapons can be deployed in remote areas and sea area
The statement said that the DAC also approved the AON for the procurement of VShorad missile system under design and development by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The ministry said, “In view of the recent developments on the northern borders, there is a need to focus on effective air defense weapon systems that can be rapidly deployed in difficult terrain and maritime domain.” And as a rapidly deployable system, will strengthen air defense capabilities.
Approval for purchase of BrahMos Launcher and FCS
“In addition, the DAC has approved the procurement of BrahMos Launcher and Fire Control System (FCS) in respect of Shivalik class ships and Next Generation Missile Vessels (NGMVs) for the Indian Navy,” the statement said. Said, ‘The inclusion of these equipment will increase the ability of these ships to carry out maritime attack, destroy enemy warships and merchant ships.’
