Mumbai: Mahayuti alliance has won nine out of 11 seats in Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections. There was a lot of cross voting in the MLC (MLA) elections this time too. Mahayuti made a dent in the MLAs of India Alliance and got all its 9 candidates elected. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said that five MLAs of the opposition alliance have voted for the candidates of Mahayuti. We thank those five MLAs who voted.
MLAs of India Alliance voted for Mahayuti
According to sources, MLAs of Samajwadi Party (SP) and CPI M, which are part of India Alliance, also voted for the candidates of Mahayuti. Congress MLAs Zeeshan Siddiqui and Jitesh Antapurkar are suspected of cross voting. SP has two MLAs in Maharashtra.
7 Congress MLAs cross-voted
According to news agency PTI, at least seven Congress MLAs have cross-voted, disregarding the party’s instructions. Party sources said that the Congress, which has 37 MLAs, had fixed a quota of 30 first preference votes for its candidate Pragya Satav and the remaining seven votes were to go to ally Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Milind Narvekar. But, Satav got 25 and Narvekar got 22 first preference votes, which means that at least seven Congress MLAs cross-voted.
