New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land on Purvanchal Expressway in a C-130J Super Hercules transport plane on Tuesday. He will come to Sultanpur in UP to inaugurate the 340.8 km road. PM Modi tweeted on Monday that it will be a ‘special day for the development path of Uttar Pradesh’. “This project has brought with it the economic and social progress of UP,” the Prime Minister wrote on Twitter along with four pictures of Purvanchal Expressway. The Purvanchal Expressway has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 22,500 crore. It will connect the state capital Lucknow with the major cities of Prayagraj and Varanasi along with the eastern districts. The expressway passes through nine districts including Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.
With this expressway, the eastern region of the state will also be connected to the national capital Delhi through Agra-Lucknow and Yamuna Expressway. The Uttar Pradesh government said the Purvanchal Expressway is part of its plan to develop emergency landing facilities for fighter jets across the country. A 3.2 km strip has been made near Sultanpur district for emergency landing of fighter jets.
On Tuesday, PM Modi will also address a public meeting after inaugurating the Purvanchal Expressway and also watch an air show organized by the Indian Air Force. Along with the C-130J Super Hercules, fighter aircraft including Rafale, Mirage, Jaguar, Sukhoi, Kiran Mk II and AN-32 can participate in the 45-minute air show.
Officials said that dings and takeoffs will be done from the airstrip by fighter jets of the Indian Air Force. Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Purvanchal Expressway will be known as the backbone of the state’s economy.
