Delhi: Severe heat wave continues in North India. The condition of severe heat is such that the temperature of Najafgarh in Delhi reached 47.8 degrees on Sunday. The temperature of Agra in UP was recorded at 47.7 degrees. While the temperature of Datia in Madhya Pradesh reached 47.5. According to the Meteorological Department, Najafgarh was recorded as the hottest area in the country on Sunday. At the same time, a temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Delhi-NCR on Sunday. According to the Meteorological (Protect )  Department, the heat will continue for the next one week.

A continuous increase in temperature has been observed in Delhi in recent days. On Sunday, the highest temperature of this summer was recorded in Delhi. The temperature on Saturday was 43.6 degrees Celsius while on Friday it was 42.5 degrees Celsius. While on Sunday, the temperature at Safdarjung station was recorded at 44.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal. While in other parts of the city, the mercury reached above 47 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Najafgarh was recorded at 47.8 degrees Celsius. While 47.7 degrees were recorded in Mungeshpur, 46.4 degrees in Aya Nagar, 46.5 degrees in Pusa, 47 degrees in Pitampura and 45.1 degrees in Palam.

Entire North India in the grip of heat wave

India Meteorological Department has written on social media platform X, “Today, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions were observed in many parts of Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and different parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and North Madhya Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature was recorded in Ganganagar, Rajasthan on Sunday. The temperature here was recorded at 46.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday. At the same time, Hisar in Haryana was the hottest district of the state. The temperature here was recorded at 45.6 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted largely clear skies in Delhi on Monday, severe heat in many parts and strong winds at a speed of 25-35 kilometers per hour. On Sunday, the relative humidity in Delhi during the day was between 57 percent and 15 percent.

In view of the heat wave alert and rising temperature, an order has been issued to close all schools from class 1 to 8 in Ghaziabad, UP. A five-day holiday has been declared in government and non-government schools from May 20 to May 25.

A large part of the country is reeling under severe heat and the maximum temperature has reached 48 degrees Celsius in many places. Heat records have been broken in many states and it is having a serious impact on health and livelihoods. Southern India witnessed a heat wave in April. The scorching heat is putting pressure on the power grid and water bodies are drying up. This is causing drought-like conditions in some parts of the country.

Monsoon expected to reach Kerala by May 31: Meteorological Department

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the southwest monsoon, the lifeline of India’s agriculture-based economy, has knocked on the country’s southern tip Nicobar Island on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon has reached parts of Maldives, Comorin area and parts of South Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands and South Andaman Sea on Sunday. The monsoon is expected to reach Kerala by May 31.
