Know which state’s Home Minister called the police a dog

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra has hit out at some policemen, saying they (policemen) take bribes from animal smugglers and allow them to smuggle freely. In a video clip that has gone viral, Gyanendra can be seen purportedly shouting at a police officer over the phone for failing to stop theft and smuggling of cattle, especially cows. They are calling policemen dogs. They are saying that they take bribe and then go to sleep like dogs. The ruckus has started after this viral video.

A ruckus has started after a video footage of Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra surfaced. In the video, he is heard saying, “Cattle transporters are habitual criminals. Your officers know this, but still they take bribes and go to sleep like dogs. Your police need self-respect. “

Gyanendra further says, “I had not said anything till now, but should I continue as Home Minister or not?” They have claimed that cattle smuggling is going on in Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts. According to the video, Gyanendra said, “Today the entire police force is rotten. We are giving salary but no one wants to live only on salary. They want to live on bribe.”
The minister, however, later clarified that he had said so not to all police officers, but to a section of police. He said that in his village in Teerthalli taluk of Shivamogga district, animal smugglers tried to run over two animal rights activists with their vehicle when they tried to stop them.

Gyanendra said, his (animal rights activists) condition was so critical that I admitted him to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. I felt very sad. This is an inhuman act. He alleged that despite being armed with a new law banning cow slaughter in the state, some policemen were not taking strict action against cattle smugglers.
