Kedar Lord Tungnath’s doors closed for winter


Ukhimath: The doors of the third Kedar Lord Tungnath temple closed for the winter. The doors of the temple were closed at 12 noon on Saturday. On this occasion, in the presence of devotees, the valley resonated with the shouts of Bam-Bam Bhole. Doli reached Chopta late in the evening. During this, Doli was given a grand welcome on the way. The process of closing the doors of the temple was started from 5 am on Saturday morning. In the morning the Lord was anointed with milk, water, curd, honey.

After which worship was done. After this, Bhog was offered in the temple by adorning the Lord. Swayambhu Shivling was given samadhi with flowers, nuts, fruits, akshat and ashes. After which the doors of the third Kedar Tungnath were closed for the winter by law. As soon as the doors were closed, the moving Vigraha Doli of Tungnath made three rounds of the temple with its marks.

After this, Doli left for Chopta via Bhootnath temple. The Utsav Doli reached the first stop at Chopta for night rest at 2.30 pm. Utsav Doli will leave Chopta on 31st October and reach Bhankun for night rest. Leaving from here on 1st November, the winter seat will reach Makkumath. Where the worship of God will be done in winter for six months.

At the same time, on the occasion of the closure of the doors, the devotees kept swinging in the temple premises on the hymns of the innocent. Along with this, local women sent Doli off Dham with Mangal songs. On this occasion, Special Officer Rakesh Semwal, Administrative Officer Rajkumar Nautiyal, Doli in-charge Prakash Purohit, Manager Balbir Negi, Mathapati Ramprasad Maithani, Mukesh Maithani, Atul Maithani, Vinod Maithani, Prakash Maithani, Satish Bhatt, Devanand Gairola, Sandeep Benzwal, Pushkar Rawat, Bhagwati Semwal, Anurag Bisht, Vikram Singh etc. were present.

On November 1, Tungnath Mahotsav will be organized at Makkumath, the winter place of worship. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will reach for the inauguration of the fair. On arrival of Doli, hundreds of local villagers and devotees reach Baba’s darshan. In the Tungnath Mahotsav, colorful cultural programs will be presented by women’s mangal parties, local school children and teams of famous folk singer Kishan Mahipal and cultural department will reach in the night programs. Village head Vijaypal Negi told that all the preparations for the fair have been completed.
