The England team has suffered a major upset against Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup. This is not the first time that an underestimated team has defeated the English team in this manner. The teams of Ireland, Netherlands  (Netherlands ) and Bangladesh have already done this work in different formats of the World Cup.

The biggest upset was seen in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on Sunday 15 October. The current World Cup winning team England was completely defeated by the Afghanistan team in a one-sided match.
The England team and Afghanistan team got a huge victory in the ICC ODI World Cup. Batting first, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a brilliant inning of 80 runs and scored 284 runs. After this, the English team full of explosive batsmen was defeated.
This is the sixth time in the ICC World Cup that England lost to an underestimated team. England was considered a contender for victory against Afghanistan, but the team equipped with strong spinners defeated Jos Buttler’s team.
In the 2009 T20 World Cup, the Netherlands team created an upset by defeating England. The England team had scored 162 runs for 5 wickets in this match. The Netherlands team, which came to chase the target, won the match by 4 wickets.

In the 2011 ODI World Cup, the Irish team created history by chasing a big target against England. The English team had scored 327 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Kevin O’Brien laid the foundation of the team’s victory by playing a blazing inning of 113 runs on 63 balls and the team achieved the target with 7 wickets in 49.1 overs.
In the year 2014, the Netherlands team once again surprised and defeated the England team in the T20 World Cup. Batting first in this match, the Dutch team had scored 133 runs for 5 wickets and had bowled out England for just 88 runs.
In the 2015 ODI World Cup, Bangladesh team won against England and showed them the way out of the tournament. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 275 runs for 7 wickets. The England team had registered a historic victory by bundling out 260 runs in 48 overs.
The Irish team had defeated England in the 2022 T20 World Cup played in Australia. Batting first, the Irish team scored 157 runs thanks to 62 runs from captain Andy Balbirnie. In the rain-interrupted match, England had a target of 111 runs but when the match was stopped, the team’s score was 105 runs for 5 wickets. The Irish team had won on the basis of Duckworth-Lewis rule.
