India will soon move up one step( India )

Solar Energy: Industry body National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) has said that India’s achievement of installing 100 GW solar capacity will inspire developed and developing countries to accelerate the energy transition. On Friday, Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said that India has achieved the historic feat of 100 GW solar capacity, inspired by the government’s commitment to a clean and green future.

India is the fourth largest country

NSEFI CEO Subrahmanyam Pulipaka said, “India ( India )   is the fourth largest country to cross the 100 GW milestone after China, America and Germany. Although we are behind Germany by a small margin, we will soon become the third largest solar market in the world. This achievement is an inspiration for many countries (both developed and developing), especially the Global South, to learn and understand how to enable accelerated energy transition.”

Start of a new era

This progress marks the beginning of a new era in India’s journey towards achieving its climate goals, he said. Pulipaka said India’s energy transition landscape has seen a rapid increase in renewable energy capacity installations over the last decade. In 2014, solar power installations in the country were just three gigawatts. This achievement is a result of a business-friendly environment supported by supportive government policies. India will add 35 to 40 gigawatts of solar capacity in the next fiscal and then increase it to 40-45 gigawatts in 2026-27. Apart from activity related to utility-scale efforts, there is also a positive trend in commercial and industrial use for renewable energy, which is encouraging. The Centre’s flagship schemes – PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme and PM KUSUM – are also contributing significantly to capacity addition.
