Fire in 20 electric scooters on the road in Nashik

Nashik. These days the prices of petrol and diesel are on fire in the country. In such a situation, people are showing their interest towards electric vehicles. Electric scooters are also important among them. But in the recent past, incidents of fire in electric scooters have come to the fore. One such big case has come up in Nashik, Maharashtra. A fire broke out in 20 electric scooters being sent out from the factory here. These scooters were made by a company named Jitendra EV. It is believed that this is the first major case of this kind in the country, when such a large number of electric scooters have caught fire.

At the same time, Jitendra EV has also confirmed the incident of this fire. He says that the reason behind this incident is being investigated. The company’s spokesperson said, it happened near the factory gate. There was a fire in the scooters. However, the incident of this fire was brought under control by our team immediately. Safety is the first priority for us. We are probing the matter as to how the electric scooters caught fire. Soon we will tell about the test results.

The Union Road Transport Ministry is also very serious about this incident of fire in electric scooters. The ministry is completing the process of seeking an inquiry report into the incident from the company’s representatives. According to data released by Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Jitendra EV sold 3,788 two-wheelers in 2021-22 (April-March), as against 619 units sold in the year-ago period.

A total of 2.31 lakh electric two-wheelers were sold during 2021-22. This is at least the fifth incident of a sudden fire in an electric scooter in the last few weeks. Last month, a fire broke out in an Ola S1 Pro electric scooter parked by the roadside of a commercial area in Pune. Another such incident happened with one of the electric scooters made by Okinawa.

In view of all these incidents, the Union Ministry has ordered an inquiry. Along with this, the Center for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety, a unit of the Organization in Defense Research and Development, has been asked to investigate all these incidents by forming a team.
