New Delhi. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said on Thursday that a natural earthquake on the Moon ( moon!) has been recorded. It has been recorded by the Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) payload. ISRO said that Vikram, the lander of Chandrayaan-3 which is currently working on the surface, has detected the occurrence of seismicity on the Moon. Pragyan Rover and other payloads have also sent data regarding this and now the incident is being investigated.
The first Micro Electro Mechanical System technology based instrument on the Moon has recorded the rover’s activity. ISRO said the Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) payload recorded an event that appears to be natural. This event, detected by the Vikram lander, indicates the possibility of an earthquake on the Moon, but its exact nature is still under investigation. ISRO said, “In addition, it has recorded a natural phenomenon on August 26, 2023. The source of this incident is being investigated.”
Objective of Chandrayaan-3 mission accomplished
This happened when ISRO said that two or three missions of Chandrayaan-3 were successful. The first 2 missions – demonstration of a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, and demonstration of rover movement on the Moon – have been successful. While the third mission, which is an in-situ scientific experiment on the Moon, is currently underway. This mission made India the fourth country to land on the lunar surface, and the first country to reach the unexplored south pole of the Moon.
A child playing in Chandamama’s courtyard
A child is playing pranks in Chandamama’s courtyard, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said on Thursday as it shared footage of the Moon captured by the Vikram lander’s image camera moving in search of a safe passage. ISRO said in a post on the microblogging site X that “It feels as if a child is frolicking in Chandamama’s courtyard, while the mother looks on affectionately. Isn’t it?”
