The latest case is of non-payment of fuel filling amount, due to which Pakistan’s friends Saudi Arabia and UAE did not allow Pakistani aircraft to fly. A top official of Pakistan’s government airlines has warned that if emergency funds are not given to the airlines, then the flights of government airlines may be suspended till September 15.
Pak Airlines suffers loss worth millions
A senior director of Pakistan International Airlines, which is burdened with debt, said that earlier, where earlier 23 planes used to fly every day, now their number has been reduced to 16. Many flights have been forced to be cancelled. Aircraft manufacturing companies Boeing and Airbus have refused to supply them with spare parts for their planes because their payments are pending.
The flight was able to take off after written assurance
According to media reports, a Pakistan International Airlines plane was stopped at Damman Airport in Saudi Arabia due to non-payment of fuel. Four other planes of Pak Airlines were stopped at Dubai Airport (UAE). The Pakistani official said that the airlines gave a written assurance, only after which their planes were allowed to fly back.
Payment of 35 lakh dollars, pressure of 23 billion dollars
According to media reports, Pakistan had to make an emergency payment of 3.5 million dollars to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the international association of airlines. Only after this the services of Pakistan International Airlines were restored. The official warned that if Rs 23 billion in emergency fund was not made available soon, flight operations could be suspended till September 15.
